Unofficial wind-and-wave flag in HTML, Gulf water temperature, NOAA tides, parking fill times, and this weekend on the island — not a tourism brochure.

Eat and stay on the island

Restaurants, seafood, and hotels from the directory — not HVAC. Neighborhood dump: /neighborhoods/pensacola-beach. Hotels as a directory list: /directory/category/hotels.

Pensacola Beach is the developed stretch of Santa Rosa Island most people mean when they search the name. This page answers what the Gulf is doing right now: an unofficial flag read from live wind and wave, water temperature, tides, and sunset. Escambia County flies the official pole on the sand. We are not the county, not the Santa Rosa Island Authority, and not Visit Pensacola.

Parking: Casino vs Park East / West

Casino Beach

Free public lots behind the boardwalk, plus overflow east and west. Fills by about 10am on summer weekends. Restrooms, seasonal lifeguards, food within a short walk. Arrive early or after 3pm.

Park East

East end of the island. Free parking, thinner crowds, shallow water. Little shade — bring a tent. The default when Casino is circling.

Park West

West-end overflow when the boardwalk lots are full. Escambia posts a surf flag here (and at Park East, Casino, and the pier). Same Gulf, fewer souvenir shops.

We do not invent lot prices. If a lot is metered that day, the posted sign and ParkMobile win. Full access notes: Beach access & parking.

Bob Sikes Bridge — $1, no cash

You reach the island from Gulf Breeze on the Bob Sikes Bridge. Escambia County (MyEscambia) posts a $1 electronic toll for vehicles going to Pensacola Beach / Santa Rosa Island. Cash and coins are not accepted. Use SunPass, another interoperable transponder, or TOLL-BY-PLATE ($1 plus a $2.50 administrative fee per billing cycle). We are not the toll plaza — confirm on MyEscambia before you drive.

Common questions

What do the Pensacola Beach flag colors mean?

Escambia County flies surf warning flags on the sand: green (low hazard), yellow (moderate), red (high hazard), double red (water closed — enforced), and purple (stinging marine life, usually with another color). The flag on this page is our unofficial advisory from live wind and wave. Always obey the pole at the beach. Official companion: text PBFLAGS to 888777 or check MyEscambia — we are not the county.

Where should I park at Pensacola Beach — Casino, Park East, or Park West?

Casino Beach / the boardwalk has free public lots behind the strip and overflow east and west. Those lots fill by about 10am on summer weekends; arrive early or after 3pm. Park East (east end) is free parking, thinner crowds, and shallower water, with little shade. Park West is the west-end overflow when Casino is packed. We do not invent lot prices — if a lot is metered that day, the sign and ParkMobile win.

How much is the Bob Sikes Bridge toll, and can I pay cash?

Escambia County (MyEscambia) posts a $1 electronic toll for vehicles traveling to Pensacola Beach / Santa Rosa Island on the Bob Sikes Bridge. Cash and coins are not accepted. Pay with SunPass, another interoperable transponder, or TOLL-BY-PLATE (the $1 toll plus a $2.50 administrative fee per billing cycle). Confirm on MyEscambia before you go — we are not the toll plaza.

Is there a live Pensacola Beach cam?

Yes — Escambia County hosts live cameras on MyEscambia, including a Casino Beach view and Bob Sikes Bridge north and south traffic cameras. We link those official feeds rather than hotlinking random webcam aggregators. SRIA pier cams are often down, so the county Casino and bridge cameras are the reliable check before you cross.
