Pensacola

Pensacola proper covers downtown and the historic neighborhoods around it — Palafox Street, Seville Square, East Hill, and North Hill. It's the oldest part of a very old city, and the part where you can leave the car parked.

Downtown

Palafox is the spine: restaurants, bars, the Saturday market, and most of the city's events. Seville Square and the historic district sit just east, North Hill's Victorian houses just north. It is genuinely walkable, which is rare on this coast.

The neighborhoods around it

East Hill is the most sought-after of the close-in neighborhoods — bungalows, oaks, and a short walk or bike to downtown. North Hill is grander and quieter. Both are old enough that the same plumbing and panel caveats apply as anywhere pre-war here.

Good to know

  • Downtown is walkable; parking rules and towing are worth reading before you park
  • City of Pensacola ordinances and trash schedules apply here, unlike the county areas
  • Palafox Market runs Saturday mornings downtown
