Ferry Pass
Ferry Pass is the stretch of north Pensacola along Davis Highway and Nine Mile Road — unincorporated Escambia County rather than city limits, and the part of town where most people actually run their errands. If you have eaten at a chain restaurant or bought anything from a big-box store in Pensacola, you were probably here.
Where it sits
North of the city proper, wrapped around the Davis Highway and Nine Mile Road corridors, with quick access to I-10. The University of West Florida campus sits just to the northeast off University Parkway, which shapes a lot of the area — student housing, cheap lunch spots, and traffic that changes noticeably between semesters.
What it's like to live here
Practical more than picturesque. Subdivisions off the main roads, Escambia County schools, and a commute of roughly fifteen to twenty minutes into downtown outside of rush hour. What you trade in charm compared to East Hill or North Hill you get back in space and price, which is why so many families with jobs downtown end up out here.
The traffic reality
Davis Highway and Nine Mile Road are the two arteries, and both back up hard at the intersections between about 4:30 and 6:00 on weekdays. Locals route around them on side streets. If you're house-hunting, drive your actual commute at your actual commute time before you sign anything — the difference between one side of Davis and the other can be ten minutes.
